Lexus IS300 Rear Bosch Icon Wiper Mod

Last year I purchased a 2002 Lexus IS300 SportCross wagon. Its one of only 3000 in the USA. One of the quirks and features of the SportCross wagon is that unlike most IS300s, it has a wagon hatch.

Unfortunately on this Lexus, the rear defrost has never worked. So I constantly have to use the rear wiper to see whats directly behind me. However, the stock wiper kinda sucked. So I looked into changing it. My go-to brand of wiper blades is Bosch icons. Bosch does not make a 14 incher Icon, but they do make a 14 inch rear wiper blade, which has the same flaws as the stock wiper.

Heres how I modded an 15 inch Bosch Icon wiper blade to fit the rear of a Lexus SportCross.

Spent $27 to save $9

For whatever reason, rear wiper arms have a wider and larger clip size than a standard front wiper arm so I used a 60 cent bushing from the hardware store to fit an off the shelf wiper blade.

Should have taken more pics of this part. Sanded down the extra rear wiper arm down about millimeter (I eyeballed it) and making a 65 cent bushing from the hardware store fit, the Lexus can now fit a 15 inch Bosch icon for the rear… Which is a 1 inch upgrade from factory spec!

Probably will never have to change this wiper again for as long as I own this car lol.
